Scientific & Technological Literacy: Developing personal & community well-being Ð Household Chemical Uses Ð by a tutoring-mentoring approach

Nawapon Yaemchoti, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Human survival and the quality of life depend on scientific and technological literacy (STL). STL includes personal well-being, the extent to which individuals realize their humanness, abilities to think, respect themselves, communicate, feel, take action and participate fully in the life of the community. From the BP International Conferences, there is a lot of evidence that university students can learn and develop their personal competencies as mentioned and, simultaneously, can serve as tutors or mentors to help young pupils to develop those skills in turn. The research aims to train the students to be able to develop their - scientific and technological literacy - vision for community concern and - tutoring and mentoring skills, to be able to help their tuteesÐmentees to develop their own scientific and technological literacy, with a focus on environmental problems on chemical use management.
