The Interns for Young Leaders is a dynamic programme for rural youth leaders in rural Ontario, Canada. The paper assesses the benefits to mentors and rural organisations in the programme.

Frank Robbins was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to Australia in 1994, where he attended the University of Western Sydney, Nepean, to gain a Graduate Diploma in Education. He came 'Down Under' again in 1996, teaching agriculture in Cabramatta, New South Wales, and then returned to Canada in 1998 to pursue his PhD. Frank also works for the Ontario Agricultural College Dean's Office as Academic Assistant, supporting students and their groups by teaching and providing organisational development and support.
