About the
Author
|
Tony Cartner is Senior Lecturer in Chemistry and Associate Dean of Science and
Technology at the University of Waikato, Hamilton NZ. He has had an active interest
in bridging programmes into Science since 1989. As an original member of the
programme committee for te Timatanga Hou, a new start programme for Maori
students at the University of Waikato -- which has been running since 1990 -- Tony
set up bridging and support programmes in science for students from non-school
and under-prepared backgrounds. He was awarded a Science and Technology
Promotion Grant of $10 000 to fund a high school peer tutoring in science and
technology project for 1999.
